In short:
ak-project-organizationscans what you point it at, proposes a table of what moves from where to where, then moves, renames and checks the final structure.ak-plan,ak-journalandak-docsalso consult it to know where a file should go. It does not force its own rules on a repo that already has conventions, and it has no fixed next skill.
Disclosure: I maintain AgentKit and have an affiliate relationship with it: the AgentKit link in this post is an affiliate link; buying through it gets you 30% off.
Summary
Use it when you have a messy folder, or need a home for a file type your repo has no convention for. You do not need it to create an ordinary file: just create it, and the agent follows the repo's existing conventions.

E["ak-plan, ak-journal, ak-docs"] -->|"ask where to write a file"| B
B --> F["Correct path and name"]Four core ideas:
| Idea | Question | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Two modes | Who calls the skill, and what does it return? | You call it on assets/ and it reorganizes; ak-journal calls it and only gets a path and file name |
| Repo conventions come first | When the repo has its own way, which does the skill follow? | A Go repo using user_auth_service.go keeps snake_case |
| Three naming patterns | Does the file name need a date? | 260304-1530-auth-plan, system-architecture.md, logo-dark.svg |
| One file or a folder | Should the result be a flat file or its own folder? | A single video at assets/videos/launch.mp4, a video with subtitles grouped in assets/videos/launch/ |
Reversible changes go ahead without asking at each step. It only stops to ask when something would be overwritten, uncommitted changes could be lost, or a structural decision is unclear, and it never overwrites an existing file.
Sample prompt for cleaning up an asset folder:
/ak-project-organization assets/
Group files by type: images, logos, videos, designs.
Done when: every file sits in its type folder and is named by the repo's conventions.This skill has no flags. The only input is a list of folders or files to organize, for example assets/ or plans/ docs/; the rest of the prompt is the outcome and the constraints you want to keep.
Below is the detailed version: the run flow, 4 situations with prompts, the change history by ak release, and common pitfalls. The detailed version and the interactive page are for subscribers. Your agent can also search them through the portal's MCP.
