In short:
ak-plans-kanbanopens the/planspage of the AgentKit dashboard in your browser. If the dashboard is not running, it starts it withak config starton port 8766. It only opens the page and edits no plan; to change a plan's status, useak plan.

Summary
Use it when you already have plans in the project and want to see them as a board: which plans are in progress, which are done, how far along each one is. You do not need it to mark a phase done or to see dependencies between plans: that is what ak plan is for.

| Point | Question | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Just an opener | Does this skill change a plan's status? | No. To mark a phase done or see dependencies between plans, use the ak plan command; see ak plan --help for the current commands. |
| Which page opens | What address does it open? | By default http://127.0.0.1:8766/plans. If a dashboard is already running on another port, it follows the URL that ak config status --json reports and does not start a second one. |
| Which plans show up | Which plans are on the board? | A project dashboard shows only that project's plans. The global dashboard shows only global plans. The dashboard decides the plans folder; a skill flag cannot pick it. |
| Checks ak before opening | When does it not open the browser? | If the running ak has no plans dashboard feature, it prints upgrade advice and exits with code 1. |
Old flags from the retired server, such as --port or --dir, are still accepted but with a warning: the skill ignores them or maps them to the new way, then still opens /plans.
Sample prompt to see plan progress:

|---|---|---|
--stop | Stop the dashboard it started | 1.0.0 |
Below is the detailed version: the run flow, 4 situations with prompts, each flag explained (use when, not needed when), the change history by ak release, and common pitfalls.
