In short:
ak-llmspicks your public docs pages, summarizes each one, groups them and writesllms.txtper the llmstxt.org spec, plusllms-full.txtwhen you need the full text. It also sets the convention for each page's.mdcopy. It does not configure your site to serve these files: that belongs to your site's framework skill, for exampleak-web-frameworksfor Next.js.

Summary
Use it when you have a docs site and want AI to read it cleanly and correctly, without chewing through HTML. The input can be the project's README and docs menu, a folder, or just a URL. You do not need it when you only want to set up routes, a sitemap or robots.txt for your site.

E --> FFour things to know:
| Concept | Question | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Public sources | Which pages go into the files AI reads? | The README and pages in the docs menu go in. Drafts, internal config and secrets stay out. |
| llms.txt and llms-full.txt | Does AI need a short index or the whole content? | llms.txt is an index: project name, a short summary, then groups of links with one-line descriptions. llms-full.txt copies every page's content into one file. |
| Each page's .md copy | Do links in llms.txt point to the HTML page or a Markdown copy? | The page /docs/intro has a copy at /docs/intro.md. A page whose URL ends in / gets index.html.md. |
| The Optional section | Which pages may AI skip when context is tight? | FAQ, changelog and migration guides sit in an ## Optional group at the end of the file. |
The main trade-off: llms.txt is compact but AI has to open each link, while llms-full.txt has everything but weighs heavy on context when the docs are large.
Sample prompt for a docs site index:
/ak-llms --base-url https://<domain>/docs
Only take pages in the docs menu and the README.
Leave out: drafts, internal docs.| Flag | What it is for | Since ak |
|---|---|---|
--full | Adds the full-text file llms-full.txt | 1.0.0 |
--md-links | Links to each page's .md copy instead of HTML | 2.19.0 |
--output | Picks where the files are written | 1.0.0 |
--trailing-slash | Site uses a trailing / for folder pages | 2.19.0 |
--base-url | Base URL for every link | 2.19.0 |
