In short:
ak-markdown-novel-vieweropens a markdown file or folder (an RFC, a runbook, a report, a plan) in a book-like reader running on your machine, and returns the exact URL the server prints. When you are done, it only stops the server it started itself. It does not make an HTML file to send around: that isak-preview --html.
Disclosure: I maintain AgentKit and have an affiliate relationship with it: the AgentKit link in this post is an affiliate link; buying through it gets you 30% off.
Summary
Use it when you have a long markdown document, a folder of documents, or a multi-phase plan and want to read it in a browser instead of scrolling in the terminal. You do not need it when you want a standalone HTML file to send to someone else.

A -.->|"Need a standalone HTML file"| F["ak-preview --html"]Four concepts to know:
| Concept | Question | Example |
|---|---|---|
| File or folder | What do you give it? | docs/rfc-042.md opens the reader directly; docs/ opens a list of files and subfolders |
| Plan folder | When does the reader get a sidebar and Previous, Next buttons? | Open plan.md in a folder with phase files: the sidebar lists the phases with their status |
| Real URL, no port guessing | Which address does the page open at? | If port 3456 is busy the server moves to the next free port; the skill returns the exact URL the server prints |
| Whoever starts a server stops it | Who stops the server, and which one? | The skill records the PID, port and project of the server it started and stops only that PID |
By default the server only listens on localhost; to open it from a phone or another machine on the same network, say so in the prompt.
